Nav (Polish: Nawia, "NAH-vyah") is the Slavic realm of the dead, a spiritual world where the souls of ancestors dwell after leaving the living world. In this case visualised as a series of rooms representing one's life, this is where the game takes place. The symbol that you can see a few times in the game is a modern symbol of god Veles, who exercises custody over Nawia. There's no other endings for you to explore. Some of the most important choices in our lives are not ours to be made. Appreciate what you can choose.
This game's description lies a little. It's obviously not allowing you to build your life as you want. It's set in 2012-present Ukraine, following just one of many people that was struck by tragedies during this time.
Disclaimer
I am Polish, not Ukrainian. I didn't live through any of this but know a few people that did. This game is not trying to make a political statement. War causes suffering to ordinary people all over the world, this is just a little closer to home for me.
Trivia
- Each room contains a calendar that helps you understand the timeline
- You probably noticed some floating objects, they are actually present in all rooms foreshadowing that this might not be just a normal world. They just get less and less subtle with each room.
- Composer of the music is actually Ukrainian. The song you hear in the bunker is actually titled Morning of February 24, probably coming from their own experience of the first day of the invasion in 2022.
- Choices influence some later text, but it's rather tame, the ending is still the same. Probably the biggest change (actual change in the world) is the colour of the dog!
